Reflexology Lymph Drainage

.
Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD) is a technique developed by Sally Kay to help alleviate problems of lymphoedema that occurs in some women after breast cancer surgery. More information can be found by visiting the RLD website .
RLD was developed by Sally through clinical practice while working in cancer care outpatient clinics, using reflexology for patients suffering from all kinds of cancers at all stages of the disease. Many of the patients had been treated for breast cancer and consequently suffered secondary lymphoedema. Complaints relating to lymphoedema often included a swollen arm, painful shoulder, uncomfortable underarm swelling, weakness and problems with everyday activities.
I have been trained by Sally and use the technique throughout my work in the hospital and in private practice. I have also facilitated the ongoing research programme in an NHS setting with results to be reported in the near future. ( Autumn 2014)
Since the technique has been increasingly used by reflexologists across the country, it has been observed that RLD can help with inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and infections.
